山下工美是世界上首屈一指用《影子》創作的藝術家。
藝術來自對生活細膩的捕捉：她用最簡單的媒材創作光影的藝術，勾勒出不同的輪廓和人物樣貌。抽象的影子在她手裡轉化成一張張生動的臉，細微到下巴上的幾根胡渣，嬰兒綿軟的眼皮，女孩坐下時些許疊起的小腹....展出的作品有：

某人的髒亂Someone Else's Mess (Boy)-床單的許多鞋印組成的巨幅孩童像
作品表逹出孩子們漂亮的臉龐和他們所處的環境不合諧。
藝術家解釋說：這一代的人將無法解決的問題留給下一代，就像丟髒衣服一樣。藝術家的目地是想創作品讓了覺得美的作品，但同時也讓人們思考作品外潛在的不完全之處.
Yamashita has created another series of monumentally scaled children's heads, this time made of shoe prints on bedsheets. This image reveal the discontinuity between the beautiful faces of children and the situations they have inherited. The series is titled ' other people's Mess". The artist notes that one generation leaves to the next the problems it can't clean up, its dirty linen. Yamashita says her goal is to "create something beautiful that makes people think about what is not beautiful at the same time.

這件作品是依造藝術家"星座"系列中的人作品重制的大型版畫，透過放大的效果，更容易讓參觀者看出作品中複雜又精細的編織技法。
The large scale photo graphic reproduction of one of Yamashita's works from her
"Constellation series" allows the viewer to better see the complexity of the artist's weaving technique.

山谷系列Mountains and Valleys：山茶花- Camellia
藝術家以古老的折紙藝術為靈感來探索新的創作，相較於折好的完成品，她對展開及解構的部份更感興趣。希望參觀者留意那些平常藏在解構下，我們常忽略的部份。
如果我們將折好的紙船攤開，那"紙船"就跟這張攤開的這張紙沒關係了。攤開的船不再是船，紙杯也不再是紙杯。我們所看到的只剩一個圖形。像是一張地圖暗示著但卻又不明說。這個系列是要我們探索的是，我們行走在這神祕的世界中，但卻不知道它真實的樣貌。
Yamashita has taken the ancient art of paper folding. Popularly known as origami as a springboard for new explorations, interested more in the unfolded or deconstructed shapes then the finished product. Yamashita ask us to look t the underlying structure of things soften hidden from our sight. The three works- Camellia, Boat, Paper cup- belong to a series of work entitled- "Mountains and Valleys". The term "Mountains and Valleys" refers not only to togographic descriptions of landscape, but also to two of the simplest folds within the art of origami- "mountain" folds and "valleys" folds. If one unfolds an origami boat for example, the name which belongs to the previous shape is no longer relevant. The unfolded boat doesn't resemble boat. The unfolded paper cup doesn't resemble a paper cup. You are simply left with a pattern, a mapping that hints at, but does not reveal the thing that it is. Mountains and Valleys explorers that idea that we move through a mysterious world ever fully knowing its true shape.

Recreating the folding patterns of 25 classic origami shapes- animals, flowers,
objects, then integrated them into a seamless whole. The result is a terrain of lines where boundaries blur and where existence connects with another
貝克特與他的文字 BECKETT IN THIS OWN WORDS
這件作品是2000年時為蘇格蘭格拉斯哥的藝術機構隱秘的客制的作品.Cryptic是劇場表演相關的組織，他們委託山下工美製作這件作品來致敬知名劇作家貝克特。為了完成這件作品，山下工美用了貝克特的手寫筆記製成浮雕版，再利用這塊浮雕版，紙與炭筆，用貝克特自己的話語拓印出貝克特的肖像。山下工美因為認識了貝克特的家人，從而有機會得到了一本貝克特使用過的記事本。她根據記事本中零散而閃爍的只言片語，關鍵性的字詞，結合貝克特的文學作品，提取歸納了很多重要信息。在山下工美的作品中，你有沒有找到一些特別的字呢？
Origami-折紙
折紙對山下工美而言，象征著我們共同的本質。簡單方形的紙，卻能折出萬千眾生的側臉。
雖然彼此有著不同的樣貌與截然不同的生活，甚至不可能有相互間的關聯，但，攤平我們就擁有相同的形狀，共同的源頭。
Origami for Yamashita, symbolizes the essence we all share. With just a simple square piece of paper, one can come up with an infinite number shapes. We may all look different, live different lives, and sometimes it feel impossible to relate to one another. However, once " Unfolded" we share a common shape, a common source.
雖然彼此有著不同的樣貌與截然不同的生活，甚至不可能有相互間的關聯，但，攤平我們就擁有相同的形狀，共同的源頭。
